AN APPEAL TO REASON

An Appeal to Reason: 204 Strategic Tools to Help You Win Your Appeal at Trial comes from my deeply felt commitment to help trial lawyers improve their chances of winning on appeal. This book is an accumulation of knowledge that I have acquired through almost 40 years of experience. It should be of tremendous interest to every attorney who tries cases, as well as law students and paralegals.

My book provides a practical and short volume of tips, or as I call them, "strategic tools" written from an appellate lawyer's perspective, on how trial lawyers can protect their cases at the trial level in the event of an appeal.

FINDING AND KEEPING A GOOD ATTORNEY

How to Find and Keep a Good Lawyer attempts to demystify the process of finding a good attorney. Tips are offered on what qualities and characteristics the client should look for in interviewing a prospective attorney. If the client does not feel a good connection in the beginning, the relationship seldom improves over time. The client may also observe negative traits in attorneys, such as failing to return phone calls or respond to e-mails. These are red flags that should not be ignored.

My book includes tips on defining the scope of the attorney's service and how those services and costs are charged. These charges can vary from hourly, lump sum or contingency fees. The client is part of the litigation process and has duties as well. The attorney needs the client's input and cooperation. My book covers the different options in resolving a case. It also covers problems in the relationship in the attorney-client relationship, and finally, how to break up with a bad attorney.
